Job Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer will utilize advanced engineering principles to enhance manufacturing processes, improve production efficiency, and drive cost reductions. This role will involve the development and optimization of manufacturing methods, ensuring product quality and process consistency. The position will report to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the VP of Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements aimed at optimizing quality and minimizing costs.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for all production processes.
  • Investigate root causes of internal/external quality issues using 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Lead or assist in mechanical design of fixtures, process standardization, cost reduction initiatives, and quality control improvements.
  • Support the selection and implementation of automation solutions to increase output while reducing costs.
  • Provide technical expertise to manufacturing teams on troubleshooting machinery and improving fabrication processes, including cutting, punching, welding, and painting.
  • Analyze production data and reports to recommend improvements in tooling, methods, and equipment to optimize productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to evaluate feasibility and support improvement projects with accurate data-driven insights.
  • Liaise with vendors to specify and acquire equipment that enhances production capabilities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, ideally within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience with metal cutting, forming, and welding processes (robotic welding experience is highly preferred).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and Six Sigma principles; Green or Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • In-depth experience with equipment controls and PLC programming; automation and robotics experience is an advantage.
