Apprentice Engineer

Our manufacturing client is looking for a full-time permanent apprentice engineer based in Telford, travelling around the county to support the installation of copper and fibre network cables, while completing the CNet Network Cable Installer (NCI) apprenticeship.

As an apprentice you will learn industry standards, installation techniques, health and safety practices, and the fundamentals needed for a successful career in network infrastructure engineering, this entry‑level position designed for individuals with a strong interest in technical work, problem‑solving, and learning new skills.

Your responsibilities would be to install copper and fibre network cabling under supervision, helping with containment installation (tray, trunking, conduit, basket, etc.), preparing tools, materials, and work areas for daily tasks, supporting the engineers with cable pulling, termination, labelling, and dressing, following guidance to ensure all work meets industry and manufacturer standards, learning to use test equipment and support basic testing activities and maintaining a tidy work practices and good workmanship

In addition, you will be following all site safety requirements and safe working practices, attending toolbox talks and safety briefings, using PPE correctly and maintain a safe working environment, assisting with basic documentation such as cable labelling, record sheets, and photographs, learning to read and interpret drawings and site plans, communicating any issues or concerns to the supervising engineer promptly, helping manage tools and materials on-site, learning correct handling, storage, and selection of installation equipment and supporting with unloading, moving, and organising equipment as required.
