Assemble electrical cable & wiring harnesses, control panels and related assemblies by completing essential functions and responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Determine and identify materials needed and sequence of assembly by reading instructions from a job sheet, work order, diagram and/or wire list
- Begin assembly of harness by selecting wire of specified color, marking, or length and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers on board or diagram
- Form wire harness by wrapping and tying wires together at designated points and attaching ends of wires to components, plugs or terminal strip
- Protect cable from dust and moisture by inserting cable in plastic tubing or injecting plastic sealant around terminals.
- Ensure wire harness meets specifications by testing wiring continuity with tester
- Completes wiring harness or assembly by marking identifying data in necessary locations
- Operate terminating machine, air/electric tools, air presses, tie guns, stripping equipment and any other equipment needed to complete assemblies, following established safety practices and procedures
- Complete core skills requirements
- 0-3 months related experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; read a tape measure
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Vision abilities including close vision and color vision
- Manufacturing experience preferred
