General Description - Purpose of Role: A Burn Table Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a burn table, which uses cutting torches, lasers, or plasma to cut metal components according to specifications. They read blueprints, adjust machine settings, and ensure precise cuts. Operators also inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality while maintaining equipment to keep production running smoothly. This role requires knowledge of metal materials, cutting techniques, and safety procedures in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare and operate Plasma Table for cutting steel plates and performing tasks such as drilling, milling, grinding, or cutting
Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and job orders
Translate instructions into machine commands using basic programming or preloaded software- ProNest / Auto CAD
Load raw materials and parts onto machines
Offload deliveries when needed, organize and store plate as required
Conduct test runs to verify machine output matches specifications
Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
Clean and de-bur finished products
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed
Perform routine maintenance and report any mechanical issues
Monitor, replace, and safely handle required gasses
Maintain accurate records of production and machine settings
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
Assist in cross-training employees
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or vocational / technical school equivalent
2-5 years of experience in CNC machining or Plasma Table work
Familiarity with measuring instruments
Strong understanding of machining processes and materials
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
