SUMMARY

Purchase materials, goods, and services to ensure priorities of work are efficiently met by minimizing production time and cost by purchasing quality products at minimum cost, with delivery dates to support manufacturing and production control scheduling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform and refine operational, administrative, and procedural activities to optimize performance, efficiency, capacity, and profitability of purchasing activities.

Review requisitions.

Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, delivery schedule, and expediting.

Prepare purchase orders or bid requests as required.

Provide pricing support for Contracts Department as required.

Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or vendor performance according to Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) standard.

Approve invoices for payment.

Initiate new supplier process, as needed.

Send out and keep track of vendor non-disclosure agreement (NDA) records

Monitor and mentor other individuals who execute purchasing duties outside of the Purchasing Department to ensure that all purchases and purchasing activities are conducted in accordance with Atec AS9100/ISO policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

Analyze operational systems associated with purchasing to identify causes of inefficiencies of system processes and implement corrective action to facilitate effective operational flow.

Coordinate and communicate recommended actions to departments that impact on Purchasing operations to facilitate effective team efforts to achieve company objectives.

Represent company as a professional when interfacing with clients and suppliers and build positive and favorable client relationships.

Follow company purchasing policies and procedures.

Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Train, mentor, and guide Purchasing Assistant personnel in purchasing and negotiating activities.

Teach, train, and mentor personnel outside the Purchasing Department who execute Purchasing duties.

Monitor personnel to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec AS9100/ISO policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES

Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.

Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.

Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.

Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate (including Strategic Planning, AIM, Suggestion box, etc.).

Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.

Cooperate with Auditors.

Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 2-4 years of purchasing experience; or combination of education and experience.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
