Cat Scan Technician

LifePoint Health, a healthcare organization dedicated to making communities healthier by providing quality hospital services in non-urban settings, is seeking a skilled Cat Scan Technician to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this patient-focused role, you will perform CT imaging procedures to support accurate diagnosis and treatment, while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and fellow team members in a dynamic, community-oriented environment. The Cat Scan Technician is responsible for preparing and positioning patients for CT exams, operating CT scanners according to established protocols, and ensuring that all images produced are of high diagnostic quality. You will follow physician orders, select appropriate technical factors and protocols, and adjust scan parameters as needed to obtain optimal images while adhering to ALARA principles and all radiation safety standards. This position requires careful assessment of patient condition, explanation of procedures in clear, compassionate language, and ongoing monitoring of patients before, during, and after exams, including those who are critically ill or anxious. The Cat Scan Technician will start and manage IV lines when needed, safely administer or assist with administration of contrast media according to policy, and observe patients for any adverse reactions, initiating appropriate interventions and notifying the care team promptly. You will be responsible for accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, proper completion of exam histories, and maintenance of patient confidentiality. Additional responsibilities include performing daily quality control checks, recognizing and reporting equipment malfunctions, maintaining a clean and safe imaging environment, and following strict infection prevention and hospital safety protocols. The Cat Scan Technician will work closely with radiologists to ensure that special imaging instructions and advanced protocols are carried out correctly, and will assist in coordinating patient flow to minimize wait times while maintaining a high standard of care.
