The candidate will work on the following shift:

Day shift: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities


  • Perform chemical and/or physical analyses or scientific tests using established techniques in compliance with all safety and control standards.
  • Record results of tests, organize data, perform basic computations, and prepare reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines.
  • Coordinate and/or perform calibrations, verifications, and maintenance of analytical equipment. Document results in site logs and databases.
  • Monitor and maintain calibration standards and consumable items.
  • Perform first line troubleshooting of analytical metrology, laboratory IT and data handling systems.
  • Create and maintain controlled documents, procedures and test methods in accordance with site change management practices.
  • Adhere to the Statistical Process Control (SPC) program for the analysis of metrology performance and product/process quality.
  • Follow and train others to effectively use analytical systems, EH&S procedures and ODMS procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure the effective operation of analytical systems and the lab's adherence to ODMS.
  • Assist in adapting and implementing laboratory IT and data handling systems to the needs of the unit.
  • Work with business teams to facilitate implementation and verification of new test methods.
  • Comply with all safe chemical handling and disposal practices.
  • Frequently travel between plant laboratories.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline in a laboratory environment;

Laboratory Experience and Discipline:

  • Ability to prioritize and complete routine testing in a timely, reproducible manner independently and within teams.
  • Previous knowledge of chemical safety protocols and PPE, and previous work in fume hood or ventilated enclosures.
  • Excellent communication, analysis, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail to prevent and minimize errors.

Interpersonal

  • Effectively operate in a cross-functional team setting, routinely working with other chemists, lab technicians, and plant operators.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Prioritization and project management skills

Learning

  • Basic working knowledge of organic and analytical chemistry
  • Thorough understanding of statistics and how to apply statistical concepts to laboratory data

The following qualifications are preferred:

3+ years of analytical laboratory experience

Technical

  • Experience with a wide range of analytical metrology. Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental theory, capabilities, limitations, and applications of analytical instruments used on a routine basis.
  • In-depth instrument troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient at developing and implementing analytical standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient at developing test standards and carrying out complex standardizations and calibrations.
