The Role

A CNC Machinist will set up, operate, and maintain Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to produce precise parts from materials like metal or plastic, interpreting blueprints, programming machines, selecting tools, monitoring production for quality, performing inspections (first article, in-process), and troubleshooting issues to meet tight specifications for industries like aerospace, automotive, and medical
Key duties involve programming, setup, operation, quality control, and maintenance, requiring skills in math, mechanics, and problem-solving.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Setup & Programming: Interpret technical drawings (blueprints, sketches) to set up machines, create/modify programs (G-code), select tools, and calculate feeds/speeds.
  • Operation: Run CNC Mills, Lathes, or other machines to shape raw stock into finished components.
  • Quality Control: Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to ensure they meet exact tolerances and specifications, performing first article inspections.
  • Maintenance & Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning and light maintenance on CNC machines and tools.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate logs of production, quality checks, and machine actions.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all company safety guidelines and protocols.

Requirements


  • Understanding of blueprints, strong math skills, familiarity with CNC software, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors, engineers, and quality control.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine operation.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GDT (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of materials, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Attention to detail, strong hand-eye coordination, and mechanical aptitude.
