Position Summary

Sets up and operates machine shop equipment, to include manual Vertical Mills, Lathes, Drills, with CNC experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Operate ALL equipment by following all safety rules to include Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), machine guarding, hazard communications, etc.

Studies blue prints, sketches, drawings, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Performs a wide range of turning, facing chamfering, cutting off and similar machining operations, on a variety of castings, parts, special orders, rework, re-machining, etc. of various materials.

Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, etc.

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth and angle of cut.

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.

Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.

Keep work area clean and orderly.

Report all unusual conditions to supervisor.

This position requires visibility to controlled documents

Position Requirements

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERENCE

High School Diploma and up to 2 - 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
