Job Description

SUMMARY

Operates GIBBS computer programming to generate Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) programs used to control CNC machine tools that drill, mill, bore, etc. by performing the following duties. Machinist Qualifications are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Analyzes drawings and specifications to determine program input data such as hole sizes, tool sizes, reference points, and direction of machine cutting paths.

Calculates data such as starting point coordinates (location), size of Fixture Panels and number of Fixtures per Fixture panel.

Using 3D Models extract part Geometry to create tool paths as well as Tool Speeds and Feeds using GIBBS CAM as well as Manually Programming at the machine.

Keys in additional instructions such as tool size, machine feed and speed rates, and starting point coordinates.

When naming the program if possible use part number.

Set up Machines, Cut Fixtures when necessary and Produce the first part to verify program performance and verify correct dimensions.

Submit the first Article to Quality Control and make adjustments when necessary from the CMM Report.

When Necessary Run and complete the entire Production Job.

All Programs and Fixtures should be error free so that a CNC Operator can run the parts. Set up Blueprints should be made with instructions so in the future CNC Operators can set up and run the production jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: CNC Machinist Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or a minimum of 2 years experience Programming using Computer CNC Programing Software and 5 Years of CNC Machining.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and instructions. Ability to communicate effectively to co-workers and other employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate Geometry including angles, bolt circles and circle arcs as well as Speeds and Feeds. The ability to work in Metrics and when necessary transfer to Decimal equivalents.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
