In this position, you will be instrumental in bringing our industry-leading compressor technology from concept sketch, through three-dimensional CAD modelling, tolerance analysis, and design documentation, to real world prototype testing at our state-of-the-art facilities. The ideal candidate will be motivated and curious, with a passion for solving challenging problems. BASIC FUNCTION The Compressor Design Engineer will primarily be responsible for the creation of 3D CAD models and design documentation of piece parts and complex assemblies of precision machine components. This includes performing tolerance stack-up analysis to identify failure points and features for optimization. Other responsibilities will include documenting the design process and assisting other compressor engineers and designers in the business unit globally. Nature and Scope: Given aerodynamic flow path information, sketches, markups, spreadsheets, and verbal instruction, and using Creo 9.0 software, create 3D models and prepare design documentation of intricate piece parts and complex assemblies of precision machine components. Communicate/collaborate with other engineers, designers, and manufacturing personnel to complete assignments. Explore design software functionality to find new solutions to problems. Possess a solid understanding of standard mechanical technical design and drafting principles, theories, concepts, techniques, and processes. Demonstrate knowledge and use of engineering and commercial standards for design application. Perform detailed engineering calculations to support new product designs, ensuring solutions meet necessary requirements. Develop innovative design solutions by analyzing complex engineering challenges and applying creative problem‑solving techniques. Document design processes comprehensively, including calculations, assumptions, design decisions, test results, and revisions to support traceability and future reference. Apply and analyze GD&T and precision tolerancing to engineering drawings and models to ensure manufacturability, functional fit, and consistent part quality. Understanding of material properties and manufacturing practices, including casting, machining, and assembly of precision components. Ability to organize and perform multiple assignments and responsibilities. Must be able to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude. Effective and professional communication skills, including the ability to present information and communicate with internal customers. Understanding of SAP or other Material Resource Planning software to investigate existing material and BOMs. Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration principles a plus. Knowledge of material properties and machining processes is required. Experience with ANSYS is a plus Must be able to travel globally up to 10% per year. SALARY RANGE: $67,000 - $85,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
