SUMMARY

Pittsburgh Critical Care Associates (PCCA), a private practice intensivist company, is hiring Acute Care Advanced Practice Providers to work in the PCCA-managed medical and surgical ICUs at UPMC Altoona Hospital in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

The intensive care units are staffed and managed by PCCA, with the intensivist serving as head of the multidisciplinary team, overseeing and managing all ICU patients, in collaboration with other medical specialists. The APP team members, under direct supervision of intensivist physicians, will admit and co-manage patients, participate in medical decision making, and perform critical care procedures including intubation, bronchoscopy, chest tubes, central lines and arterial lines. Experienced applicants preferred for this full-time permanent position in a team-oriented collaborative work environment. Paid mentoring and training will be provided for new employees as needed to develop skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

MODEL: The intensivist service provides 24-hour coverage of four ICUs: Medical, Surgical-Trauma, Cardiovascular and Neurovascular.

APP SCHEDULE: In a Full-Time position, the APP will work every other week, 26 weeks a year, alternating a week of days and a week of nights. Rotations are Monday through Sunday and shifts are 12 hours (7am to 7pm then 7pm to 7am).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The providers will be employees of Pittsburgh Critical Care Associates, Inc private physician group. Full-time employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including malpractice and health insurance, employer-contributed retirement funds with 401K option and reimbursable CME. The salary is nationally competitive.

FACILITIES: UPMC Altoona is 390-bed acute-care teaching hospital in central Pennsylvania. It is a thrombectomy-capable stroke center, a level III trauma center and functions as a tertiary referral center in the UPMC system.
