Help

  • You will perform testing, control of ships conditions, transfer of ships systems operations and work controls on naval nuclear and nonnuclear vessels (surface ships and submarines).
  • You will apply different established methods, procedures, and techniques to investigate, evaluate, advise on and resolve unusual problems.
  • You will assess project and program effectiveness, develop criteria, procedures or instructions for a particular functional or specialized area.
  • You will provide advisory services on problems, conditions, programs and functions to a broad customer base.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: researching, interpreting and applying technical engineering procedures or work methods to identify operational problems or work control deficiencies in support of the repair, modification, or overhaul of ships or submarines.

For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: researching and analyzing technical engineering procedures or work methods to identify operational problems or work control deficiencies and recommend solutions or corrective action in support of the repair, modification, or overhaul of ships or submarines.

For the GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and evaluating technical engineering procedures or work methods to identify and recommend solutions to operational problems or work control deficiencies in support of the repair, modification, or overhaul of ships or submarines.

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and modifying technical engineering procedures or work methods to resolve operational problems or work control deficiencies in support of the repair, modification, or overhaul of ships or submarines.

In lieu of specialized experience, education may be substituted as follows:

For the GS-09 only:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree.

OR

Successful completion of two full years of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position.
