Job Overview

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery in support of daily production and site operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient, safe, and compliant operations through equipment operation related to composting, material handling, and site maintenance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Operate heavy equipment in support of day to day production activities.
  • Operate construction and site equipment, including, but not limited to, excavators, front end loaders, yard trucks, and other heavy machinery.
  • Perform required pre operation and post operation equipment inspections.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area in compliance with company safety policies.
  • Support plant operations through special projects and additional assigned duties.
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Need:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with compost operations is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience operating heavy machinery in an industrial or construction environment preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment operation and capabilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude, including experience with pumps and valves preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve equipment issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Self motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certifications

  • Valid driver's license- Required.
  • Equipment operation or vocational certifications- Preferred

Physical Requirement

  • Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
  • Ability to operate equipment in all weather conditions and terrain types.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, sit, climb, bend, and stoop as required by the role.
