Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation in Weymouth who are looking to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant to join their established finance team.

Location

Weymouth (Hybrid – 2 days office / 3 days home working)

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking for a technically varied role within a complex, multi-entity environment, with the opportunity to take ownership of statutory reporting, technical accounting, audit management and team development. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting across the group, supporting continuous improvement across finance processes and acting as a trusted technical accounting point of contact.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of consolidated and subsidiary statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards including IFRS and UK GAAP Support statutory reporting requirements across multiple entities and jurisdictions Manage month-end close activities, including general ledger processes, balance sheet reviews and reconciliations Take ownership of the external audit process, acting as a key contact for auditors and supporting the delivery of a smooth audit cycle Provide technical accounting expertise across the business, including reviewing changes in accounting standards and preparing technical papers where required Oversee group balance sheet controls, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement Support the development and enhancement of finance processes, procedures and controls Manage and mentor a small team, providing guidance, coaching and support to help develop their skills Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure accurate and timely reporting

About You: You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong technical accounting experience and a background in statutory reporting. You will ideally have experience within a complex organisation, with exposure to consolidated accounts, multiple entities and audit management. The successful candidate will have: Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP Proven experience preparing or managing statutory accounts Experience acting as a key contact during external audits Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience improving accounting processes and controls Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
