Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic

Opelika, AL

What you will do:

  • Troubleshoot, repair and replace damaged or worn parts
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on vehicles and equipment
  • Read and understand operating manuals, technical manuals, and technical drawings
  • Familiar with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical properties
  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
  • Able to troubleshoot electrical faults and read trouble codes

What you need to be successful:

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have 5 years verifiable work experience with diesel engines, or relative degree
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, willing to work any shift
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Excellent safety record
  • Follow all safety criteria and contribute to the safety program
  • Must be willing and able to work in climate weather
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must have knowledge in the fundamentals of welding
  • Must successfully complete a skills assessment, pre-employment drug screen, physical, reference check and background check
