UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Nocturnist Intensivist to join its hospital-based adult critical care practice. This is a valuable opportunity to work in a high-acuity regional referral center delivering advanced, team-based care to critically ill patients in northwest Pennsylvania. Our vision is to create a world-class regional center of excellence for the care of critically ill patients at UPMC Hamot.

  • Join a team of dynamic critical care providers dedicated to patient care and evidence-based practice.
  • Each night shift is staffed by one physician and two highly trained Advanced Practice Providers, with several nights also supported by a swing shift physician.
  • 64-bed critical care tower equipped with advanced technology and designed for optimal patient monitoring and staff efficiency.
  • Average admission at night is six patients
  • Availability of point of care ultrasound, videolaryngoscopy, bedside bronchoscopy, easy access to prone positioning. Ability to initiate ECMO followed by transfer to quaternary center.
  • Modern radiology suite with 3T MRI and patient-centered layout.
  • Opportunity to teach emergency medicine and neurology residents
  • All ICUs are Beacon Units (Silver and gold)
  • Comprehensive Cardiac Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center

Qualifications

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school
  • Accredited Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine Residency Program completion
  • Accredited Critical Care Fellowship Program completion
    • Open to recent fellowship-trained physicians
  • American Board Eligible or American Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted Pennsylvania Medical License and ability to obtain necessary credentials
  • DEA certification
