Job Summary

Involved in all aspects of mechanical design from concept, development, validation and detailed design requiring autonomy and hands-on activity. He/she is responsible for the quality and thoroughness of the drawings that are created with the expectation that the work order will be fulfilled.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Design with intent of cost savings, inventory reduction and respecting obligatory mandate.
2. Perform basic design & draft as support for intermediate/senior levels.
3. Build the technical requirements and scope for the project.
4. Define the engineering budget.
5. Complete work order on time, on budget and with the expected results.
6. Study the Engineering Schedule and follow the pre-determined schedule.
7. Lead the product validation and application qualification.
8. Respect drawings standards and standard regulatory criteria (FDA, CSA, ANSI, etc.) for all designs.
9. Use proper naming convention and archiving protocols when creating drawings.
10. Perform inspection of new parts.
11. Supporting assembly and fabrication team with application issues.
12. Generate Bill of Materials for Assemblies.
13. Follows global industry standards and company's practices, rules and procedures.
14. Perform ECR's demands.
15. Keep updated on innovations in the packaging industry.
16. Respects the company's standards such as punching rules, policies, procedures
17. Support the service team during commissioning.
18. Interface with clients when required.
19. Travel if needed.
20. Build shop packets and lead the transfer from engineering to production.
21. The employee must be available and willing to work overtime when requested by the supervisor to meet operational and business requirements. 22. All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering, or equivalent is required.
  • 0-2 years of mechanical design experience is preferred. Hands on training available for the right candidate.
