Henrico, VA Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: Day shift (approx. 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM), with flexibility to support other shifts as needed Pay: Starts at $38.00/hour (higher based on experience) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Maintenance PLC Technician to join our manufacturing maintenance team. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting high-speed automated production equipment while supporting continuous improvement initiatives through electrical and PLC technologies. The ideal candidate is skilled in both electrical and mechanical systems, process automation, and industrial controls in a production environment.Primary Responsibilities Maintain, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, sensors, vision systems, and encoders Modify, program, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI software (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) Develop, configure, and maintain industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and I/O Link Program and troubleshoot safety controllers to ensure safe interaction between equipment and personnel Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and drawings, implementing modifications as necessary Support installation, commissioning, configuration, and ongoing support of process automation systems Monitor equipment performance, optimize operation techniques, and improve efficiency Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and identify potential hazards Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal safety protocols Interface daily with cross-functional teams, including quality, engineering, production, and technical services Document work processes, create manuals, and report progress on projects
Minimum Requirements Associate degree or trade school certification in controls, electronics, or a related field 3–5 years of manufacturing or production experience with both electrical and mechanical systems Journeyman’s card or equivalent electrical certification PLC/HMI programming experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or ELAU) Electrical troubleshooting experience, including motors (480V) Understanding of industrial network protocols and process control systems Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team Knowledge of industry safe practices and procedures
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field Experience in consumer goods, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic manufacturing Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or regulated manufacturing environments (FDA, ISO) Strong technical expertise in high-speed mixing and packaging equipment
