HORMEL FOODS – INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (1ST SHIFT)

Location

Alma, KS

Shift: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday, 5AM-1:30PM; weekend work as required)

Wage Rate: $24.75–$34.50 per hour

We are seeking motivated, skilled individuals to join our Maintenance team. Ideal candidates show strong problem-solving abilities, reliability, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence. This role plays a critical part in keeping production equipment running efficiently and safely in our food processing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Tear down, set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all plant equipment with minimal supervision. * Install, operate, maintain, and repair processing equipment using industrial maintenance skills. * Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Assist with system modifications to improve equipment operation and support

plant goals. Utilize the Asset Management System (EAM). Provide training to less experienced maintenance personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Previous mechanical experience required. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks. Attention to detail and ability to use computer systems/software. Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in temperatures ranging

from -10°F to 100°F. Ability to use powered equipment such as forklifts and hi-lifts. Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future

sponsorship. * Must be 18 year of age or older.

Preferred:

* Preferred experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics in an industrial manufacturing facility. * Experience with refrigeration equipment, boilers, compressors, HVAC, fire suppression, or water treatment a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to cold temperatures (35–40°F on production floor). Wet, slippery floors and mechanical equipment. Exposure to chemicals used in sanitation. Loud noise; PPE required including hard hat, safety glasses, and hearing

protection.
