Job Summary

Mechanical Engineer position responsible for leading projects and developing a variety of HVAC&R product designs for both commercial and defense markets including heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems. This position will be responsible for leading development of new products, supporting legacy products; sizing and selecting components; supporting strategic initiatives; creating associated documentation; and supporting product testing, qualification, and production.

Job Responsibilities
β€’ Leading projects for the development and support of mechanical equipment, especially air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems including heat exchangers
β€’ Engineering project management supporting schedule development, cost, project resources and communication with internal/external customers
β€’ Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services. Investigate solutions to product or process problems
β€’ Engineering of HVAC&R equipment for component sizing, selection, and performance predictions. May include Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Packaging, or others
β€’ Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services. Participate in supplier scouting, evaluation and engagement activities in support of new projects
β€’ On-time project execution by collaborating with engineering service firms and managing on-site or remote contingent resources effectively
β€’ Support development of product designs, manufacturing drawings, bills of material and associated supporting documentation for fabrication and delivery of products and prototypes
β€’ Review customer specifications and requirements in support of bids and proposals and develop compliant designs for product development
β€’ Development of technical documentation, manuals, and procedures
β€’ Support testing, qualification, documentation and analysis of prototypes, products, systems or subsystems

Job Responsibilities Part II
β€’ Responsible for completion of projects on time, within budget and following design specifications
β€’ Provide budget, cost and schedule input for status of project assignments
β€’ Work with manufacturing and cross functional teams to achieve project cost and manufacturing efficiency goals
β€’ Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and customers
β€’ Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing results in a cooperative and supportive manner
β€’ Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
β€’ Maintain and develop technical knowledge by conferring with technical specialists and suppliers; attending educational workshops; and reviewing professional publications
β€’ Ability to work independently under supervision of others while reporting progress and status
β€’ Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications
β€’ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
β€’ Experience leading engineering projects especially new product development
β€’ Engineering or design experience with mechanical equipment, assemblies and components including machined components, welded structures and sheet metal parts
β€’ Comfortable and competent writing and creating technical documentation
β€’ Competent using MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint)

Additional Desired Qualifications
β€’ Experience with HVAC&R (air conditioning, air handling and refrigeration) equipment and suppliers
β€’ Experience designing and drafting with PTC CREO, AutoCAD Mechanical 2D or similar CAD/PLM platforms
β€’ Basic experience creating drawings (drafting) following ASME Y14.100 and associated documentation such as bill of materials
β€’ Understanding of ASHRAE test requirements and certification of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Air Handling systems
β€’ Experience with refrigeration systems, turbomachinery equipment including induction motors, and metal additive manufacturing
β€’ Experience conducting product design/technology reviews with customers and capturing product needs
β€’ Experience designing defense products, especially for the US Navy
