Job Title: Metadata Specialist (Edgewing)

Location

Reading area. The role could be contracted to any BAE Systems site (preferably Frimley) but on commencement will immediately be assigned to our Edgewing JV in the Reading area. A financial support package may be available to enable this assignment if required, dependent on certain criteria being met. Due to the nature of this assignment, we envisage there will be a need for mostly on site working, however, flexible working arrangements may be possible – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

£54,808+ (DOE)

Job Description

As a Metadata Specialist, you’ll support the development and operational delivery of enterprise metadata standards, governance processes and classification frameworks across the organisation. You’ll work closely with data custodians, governance teams and technical stakeholders to ensure metadata is accurate, consistent and aligned across enterprise systems and data domains.

This role will contribute to the enablement of data catalogues, governance tooling and metadata quality processes, helping improve how data assets are understood, managed and utilised across the business.

Core duties:

  • Define and maintain metadata standards, taxonomies and classification frameworks across enterprise data environments
  • Work collaboratively with governance, security and technology teams to support metadata compliance and consistency
  • Support the integration of metadata standards into governance tools, catalogues and enterprise platforms
  • Partner with data custodians and business stakeholders to improve metadata quality and stewardship activities
  • Support metadata governance improvements, operational workflows and best practice guidance across the organisation

Essential Skills:

  • Experience within metadata management, data governance or data architecture environments
  • Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven organisations
  • Understanding of metadata standards, data cataloguing concepts and governance frameworks
  • Experience working with enterprise data platforms, governance tools or cataloguing technologies
  • Good analytical and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical teams
