Mobile Urgent Care Advanced Practice Provider

Silverdale, WA

Virginia Mason/Franciscan Health is seeking a PA-C to join a CARES unit on the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State. This unique role will support a partnership between Fire Department Community Assistance, Referral, and Education Service (CARES) program and VM/FH to proactively visit and treat individuals in the field.

Job Highlights:

  • The APP will join firefighters/EMT's and/or social workers providing non-emergency level of medical care provided in the patient's home rather than in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • In conjunction with the CARES team, the APP will address issues that typically end up in an urgent care setting, but can be addressed more efficiently in the patient's home.
  • Examples of the anticipated scope of work may include cold & flu, pneumonia, sprains, headaches, basic substance abuse support, wound care, and prescription refills.
  • The goal of your efforts is to expand access to care by meeting patients where they are.
  • Essential Duties include: Interview and examine patients to determine diagnosis, order tests to ascertain the nature and extent of illnesses and injuries, prescribe medications, provide therapeutic treatments, administer immunizations, make house calls to treat and follow-up with patients, cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for patients, comply with infection control policies and protocols, review and maintain medical histories and records, and educate and counsel patients and their families.

Qualifications

  • Certified as a Physician Assistant
  • CPR certification and BCLS is required
  • A minimum of 3 years of post-training experience is also required
  • Applicable background experience can include a primary care setting, EMS, EMT, paramedicine, emergency room/urgent care, or military medicine background.
  • Current state license with prescriptive authority.
  • Current driver's license in the state of Washington.
