Overview:

An exciting opportunity for an outstanding Laborists to join The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at one of the largest and most comprehensive healthcare systems in Connecticut recognized for advanced clinical care, quality, service, cost effectiveness and commitment to improving the health status of the communities it serves.

You will be a part of a skilled team of maternity specialists from board-certified physicians, nationally certified nurses and midwives to experts in high-risk pregnancies. Qualified Laborists will be responsible for full-time appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Academic Clinician track. The medical team provides services in partnership with your obstetrician, using the highest level of sophisticated technology and is always available to care for patients in the Labor and Delivery Unit. The experienced and knowledgeable team of doctors and nurses bring almost 2,600 new lives into the world each year!

Qualifications

  • Board certified/eligible in general obstetrics and gynecology
  • Superior surgical and operative vaginal delivery skills
  • Experience demonstrating excellence in evidence-based obstetric care and teaching
  • Experience in collaborating with certified nurse midwives and an interest in participating in and conducting clinical research are desirable.
  • Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts (2-4 days each week)
  • Experienced in monitoring laboring patients as well as delivering unassigned patients
  • Direct record of safety
  • Strong communication skills with patients and attending physicians.
  • Patient safety focus

Education and Training:

  • Medical School: Complete a medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited program.
  • Residency: Complete an accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology
