Become part of a physician led 650+ provider multispecialty group with a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care. The Oncology Hospitalist is responsible for the management of oncology inpatient care at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC). This acute management of existing hematology/oncology inpatients as well as inpatient consultations from referring physicians at SARMC for hematologic or oncologic related issues. In addition. It entails traditional Internal Medicine scope of practice with added focus on hematology and oncology. The inpatient oncologists will manage necessary chemotherapy in collaboration with the patients primary oncologist as well as manage inpatients undergoing /radiation therapy.

The oncology hospitalist works closely with the ambulatory medical oncologists within the Saint Alphonsus Cancer Institute. Anchored with locations in Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, and Ontario and telemedicine opportunities through the region, the Saint Alphonsus Cancer Institute is a full-spectrum practice, is QOPI certified, and CoC accredited, offering rewarding opportunities including over 100 clinical trials. The integrated program also has leading surgical expertise with the States only fellowship-trained surgical oncologist along with other highly specialized, fellowship-trained physicians to support a growing program.

Support: Dedicated 10-bed inpatient unit at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise is supported currently by one other oncology hospitalist and two full-time APPs. Collaboration and support from full-service cancer center with medical, radiation, and surgical oncology offers integrative care team support with advanced practice providers, nurse navigators, social work support, genetics counseling, and nutritionist. Weekly tumor boards provide opportunity to collaborate with our fellowship trained surgeons in breast, plastic/reconstruction, GYN oncology, colorectal, neurosurgery, thoracic and esophageal specialties. Innovative programs include lung cancer screening, lung nodule clinic, neuro oncology, and robust clinical trials through the Montana Cancer Consortium. Primary care providers in key geographic locations throughout the Treasure Valley, support the specialists.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree;
  • Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Internal Medicine residency program
  • Board certified or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS);
  • Successful completion of a Medical Oncology/Hematology fellowship preferred, but not required;
  • Board certified in Medical Oncology/Hematology preferred;
  • Fellowship trained in onco-hospitalist preferred;
  • Obtain Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC - Boise and other health system affiliated hospitals as needed;
  • Valid controlled substance registration with Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
