Responsibilities

Direct and provide outpatient care to clinic patients and ensure quality assurance including examination of patient's eyes, sight testing, diagnosis of visual disorders and diseases, determining course of treatment, providing and supervising appropriate treatment for such diseases, including glaucoma, cataract and diabetes.

  • Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization review
  • Examine the eyes of patients of all ages to detect signs of injury, disease, abnormality or vision defects
  • Provide spectacle prescription
  • Write referral communications to doctors
  • Read retinal scans
  • Prescribe medicines for people with eye conditions
  • Participate in the development of clinic protocols and procedures to ensure quality eye care
  • Participate in utilization and peer review programs which evaluates the quality of the optometry staff and services being performed at the clinics
Qualifications

Minimum

  • Current California Optometric License
  • State of California Certification for the treatment of ocular disease
  • State of California Certification for the treatment of glaucoma
  • A Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) Degree from an accredited optometry school
  • Current CPR certification
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Experience/familiarity with Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records systems, NextGen preferred

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilities

Pay Range

  • $71.00 - $74.00 Depending on Experience
