Job Description

Join our Team at the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Stockton, CA as a Physician - Ophthalmologist!

As the Ophthalmologist at our facility, you will manage eye conditions including cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Treatments include, but are not limited to: cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy laser therapy, glaucoma treatment, and macular degeneration injections. Administrative duties are general oversight of the operations of the Ophthalmology Clinic including but not limited to provide providing efficient patient management, supervision of Ophthalmology residents and other administrative activity. Physicians are expected to maintain Joint Commission readiness.

Clinical Duties:

Provide direct patient care to include, but are not limited to: history and physicals, medication management, evaluation of diagnostic tests and treatment planning, surgery, and clinical reminder completion as applicable.

Administrative Duties:

Document all medical information in an electronic medical record.

Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and participate in bi-annual Medical Staff activity including committee participation.

General oversight of the operations of the Ophthalmology Clinic including but not limited to provide providing efficient patient management

Supervision of Ophthalmology residents

Perform medication reconciliation.

Education Duties:

Instructing and educating Ophthalmology residents.

Benefits and Features

  • Expected Salary range from $300K to 350K (negotiable based on candidate's qualifications, credentials and experience).

* Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized.

* Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized.

* Work Schedule: M-F 8:00am to 4:30pm. Also, an occasional Saturday clinic or a weekday extended hour clinic; however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the service/medical center.

* Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.

* Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).

* Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

* Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).

* Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

* CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification).

* Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.

* Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
