Powder Coater/Painter role at Kelvion in Catoosa, OK, focused on preparing, masking, priming and powder coating parts to customer specs while meeting strict quality and safety standards. You'll run powder-coating equipment, complete in-process/final inspections, and maintain equipment and production records. What you will be responsible for:
- Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
- Prepare parts for coating
- Follow all principles and practices of powder coating
- Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems.
- Clean grease, rust, and dirt from product; wash surfaces prior to coating; apply masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
- Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
- Determine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using mill gage.
- Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations.
- Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance.
- Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout facility.
- Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment.
- Load and unload parts or product onto fixtures.
- Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment.
- Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintains production record of parts and jobs fabricated as required by the Department Manager.
- Set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
- Must pass Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
- Must be able to wear respirator.
- Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on-site, ability to work overtime.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. One year related experience preferred.
