Responsible for ensuring parts are painted properly according to customer specifications while meeting all quality standards. Pretreat, clean, mask, prime and powder coat a variety of parts as needed. Perform required quality checks including1st piece, in-process and final inspections by performing the following duties.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
  • Prepare parts for coating
  • Follow all principles and practices of powder coating
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems.
  • Clean grease, rust, and dirt from product; wash surfaces prior to coating; apply masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using mill gage.
  • Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations.
  • Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance.
  • Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout facility.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment.
  • Load and unload parts or product onto fixtures.
  • Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment.
  • Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains production record of parts and jobs fabricated as required by the Department Manager.
  • Set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Must pass Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
  • Must be able to wear respirator.
  • Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on-site, ability to work overtime.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. One year related experience preferred.
