Position: Production Technician - NTP

Location

North Tonawanda Plant - North Tonawanda, NY

Hours of work: Full-Time Position with hours Monday - Friday 9:00-5:00 PM

The Production Technician will perform the full range of assignments involved in functioning within a self-directed work team. The Production Technician's primary responsibility will be the operation of the activators, final screening operations, by-product processing, and blending requirements. The Production Technician will operate the following equipment: Activator process and auxiliary equipment, lift truck, end loader, measuring instruments (analytical balance, scales, rotap, sieves, etc.), and designated hand tools. The Production Technician will also operate Baker, Press Room Process, and Auxiliary Equipment, computer equipment and software, and communications equipment including radios.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Understanding of how to perform the settings and maintain the equipment at specific operating conditions as guided by the Process Operating Conditions sheet for the various products
  • Obtaining and reporting operating conditions of all equipment to assure proper function and taking corrective action and/or notifies appropriate personnel for assistance
  • Responsible for determining, establishing, and maintaining necessary operating conditions; trending process conditions, monitoring analytical results and taking corrective action; activator yields, first-time quality (FTQ) and production rates
  • Responsible for obtaining proper samples and performing specified in-process testing or submitting samples to the lab for testing
  • Maintaining complete and accurate records of operations as required
  • Responsible for handling by-product and blending operations according to established manufacturing procedures
  • Perform maintenance jobs of minor nature to assure continuous operation
  • Assist in planning and execution of bid area turnarounds
  • Responsible for training new operating personnel in proper work procedures
  • Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with all area operating procedures including ISO procedures; understanding of all changes made to operating areas, methods and procedures; and knowledge of unit quality parameters, unit performance and product specifications
  • Responsible for proper shift relief with members of own work team and other work teams; participation in safety audits, safety meetings and proper and accurate incident investigations; participation in small group activities including High Impact Groups; and participation in continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible for assisting the other members of his/her team to ensure that the production and quality of the other line unit operations is acceptable
  • Responsible for compliance with all activities defined by the scope of Calgon Carbon Corporation's Responsible Care® initiative for the applicable position
  • Assure that work areas are kept in a neat and orderly manner to assure conditions that are acceptable according to good housekeeping and safety standards
  • Maintaining proper housekeeping
  • Other activities as determined to be necessary for proper operation by appropriate personnel

Qualifications
  • A High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
  • 0-2 years of manufacturing or industrial environment experience is required
