We are looking for self-motivated and safety-conscious candidates who would like to join our production team in our Washington, MO location!

New employees have the potential to earn $60K in total compensation when working at Canam Steel Corp for a 50-hour work week. This includes the base rate, overtime, retention and production bonuses.

There are additional ways to earn including referral bonuses.

Position is full-time with benefits!

2nd Shift 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM + OT including some weekends

PRODUCTION

  • Sets up and operates various machines to cut, stamp, bend, punch or otherwise form steel component parts which are used to fabricate finished products such as steel joists, bridging, girders and other structural steel pieces. May count out and package bolts for shipment and maintain related records.
  • Place and tack weld steel component parts to fabricate finished products including steel joists and girders on a fast-paced assembly line.
  • Must be able to learn to tack weld.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be willing to start and train on 1st shift (6AM-2:30PM) + OT including some weekends

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, understand and use shop paperwork and drawings to properly setup machines to produce required parts.
  • Must use various measuring devices such as tape measure, micrometer, calipers, etc.
  • May operate overhead cranes or use other equipment to move raw material and/or finished goods to and from machine.
  • May be required to assemble component pieces by welding.
  • Feeds raw material into and removes finished product from machine.
  • Trips machine via hand or foot control.

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to stand continuously and walk for an entire shift.
  • The ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, hold, push/pull, carry, flip and maneuver tools and raw material/product of various length and weight.
  • Frequently reaching and holding arms and weight overhead.
  • May require crouching, bending twisting, stooping, and squatting
  • Climb or balance frequently.
  • Capable of lifting 60lbs or more repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Open shop environment -- may be exposed to cold and hot workspaces.
  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and welding flash.
  • Noise in the work environment is generally very loud.

PPE Required
The following PPE will be required to be worn at all times:

  • Hard hat
  • Earplugs
  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves
  • Steel-toed boots
  • Metatarsal guards

*Additional PPE may be required as needed
