Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Program Manager, Wildfire Mitigation to join our Programs x Domestic Ops - West Branch team! The Program Manager, Wildfire Mitigation will lead a team of staff and volunteers in the execution of the goals and objectives of Team Rubicon’s wildfire mitigation. This role involves managing budgets, resources, personnel issues, external relationships, and administrative functions to support and grow wildfire mitigation.
This position reports to TR’s Deputy Director, Operations (West Branch) and is based remote preferably within California (CA), Oregon (OR), Washington (WA), or Colorado (CO) but open to anywhere within the United States.
Provide leadership and team management by supervising, mentoring, and developing staff by setting clear goals and expectations, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Support the design, growth, and implementation of TR’s Wildfire Mitigation Program.
Develop relationships with external partners and agencies to support project development.
Ensure adequate budgeting, planning, and accounting of; labor costs, material cost, and impacts on budget vs actual cost.
Monitor wildfire mitigation project locations and ensure alignment with TR’s priorities for vulnerability, need, and impact.
Build, lead, and manage a wildfire fuels reduction crew including team leadership, work assignments, and workflows.
Support personnel recruitment, deployment, and well-being in mitigation projects, managing schedules and work rotations.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
5-7 years of relevant professional experience in the military, wildfire mitigation, forest management, disaster response, emergency management, or first responder fields
Successful past performance managing programs or projects, preferably in the wildfire or forestry fields
Proven record of personnel management experience such as recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers
Proficient with technology tools and in remote working for communicating and coordinating with a large network of TR staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders
Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired
This is a full-time; REMOTE position (based on continued funding availability) preferably based any of the following locations: California (CA), Oregon (OR), Washington (WA), or Colorado (CO) but is open to anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule
Travel: At least 25% to support broader organizational activities focused within departmental initiatives scheduled or unscheduled work during evenings or weekends
