We are seeking a QA Automation Lead to own and evolve our quality assurance strategy across the product lifecycle, ensuring it aligns with business priorities and customer outcomes. This role will report to a VP-level leader and work closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to deliver a high-quality, customer-centric experience. The position will also support quality efforts across both web and mobile experiences, helping ensure consistent test coverage across platforms and customer-facing workflows.
The ideal candidate is both hands-on and strategic, with experience building scalable, sustainable test automation practices and mentoring manual testing resources into higher-value quality work. This person will help shape a testing approach that prioritizes the workflows and product areas that matter most to users and the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and execution of a scalable QA automation strategy.
- Build and maintain automated test coverage using Playwright.
- Establish testing standards, frameworks, and best practices that support long-term maintainability.
- Mentor and develop manual QA resources, including helping transition appropriate work into automation.
- Partner with Product and Engineering early in the development cycle to define testability, risk areas, and acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with Customer Success to understand customer pain points, production issues, and high-impact workflows.
- Review requirements, user stories, and release plans to identify quality risks and test coverage needs.
- Own regression strategy, release readiness, and test execution for key product areas.
- Improve test reliability, reduce flaky tests, and ensure automation runs are stable in CI/CD environments.
- Analyze defects, trends, and customer-reported issues to drive prevention and continuous improvement.
- Communicate quality status, risk, and priorities clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA experience, including automation testing in a product/software environment.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Selenium.
- Strong understanding of test strategy, test case design, regression testing, and quality assurance best practices.
- Experience designing, building and improving scalable test frameworks, using patterns like reusable utilities.
- Experience testing mobile applications, including validating key user flows, regressions, and release readiness across iOS and Android environments.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven ability to mentor QA team members, including manual testers.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to work in a smaller team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading QA efforts in a SaaS or customer-facing software environment.
- Familiarity with API testing, database validation, and test data management.
- Understanding of release management and production support processes.
- Exposure to performance, accessibility, or cross-browser and mobile testing.
- Experience working with remote or distributed teams.
What Success Looks Like
- A clear, documented, and sustainable QA strategy is in place.
- Automation coverage is improving in the areas that matter most to customers.
- Manual testing is being used more strategically, not as a bottleneck.
- Product quality, release confidence, and defect prevention improve over time.
- Cross-functional partners view QA as a proactive, trusted business partner.
- Influence quality culture across Product, Engineering, and Customer Success.
- Own release confidence and quality readiness for major product initiatives.
