In this role, you will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, continuous monitoring, and early recognition of subtle changes in condition for critically ill surgical patients. You will manage ventilators, titrate vasoactive and other high-risk infusions, interpret hemodynamic data, and implement complex care plans to stabilize and improve outcomes for patients recovering from major surgical procedures, trauma, or other critical conditions. You will administer medications safely, manage central and arterial lines, maintain drains and wound care, and ensure meticulous documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
The Surgical Intensive Care Unit nurse functions as an integral member of a collaborative team, actively participating in bedside rounds, communicating effectively with providers, and advocating for patients and families during periods of significant stress and uncertainty. You will educate patients and families about disease processes, treatment plans, and post-ICU expectations, while demonstrating empathy, cultural sensitivity, and clear, respectful communication. You will follow established protocols and evidence-based guidelines to minimize complications, prevent infections, and promote early mobility, comfort, and safety.

The Surgical ICU operates around the clock, and this position will require flexibility to work a combination of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts based on unit needs and staffing patterns.
