Job Description SummaryAs Valve Converter Lead Project Engineer, you will report to the Valve Converter Engineering Leader.
The role gives an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to expand their
project management skills and personal development within an international project organisation delivering complex HVDC system.
Whilst based at the HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford there will be some
international travel opportunities to collaborate with other GE Teams, participate in customer meetings, support test facilities and site activitiesJob Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of one or several projects running in parallel.
  • Define and maintain the Valve Delivery Project Plan.
  • Define and maintain the detailed Valve Project Smartsheet Plan derived from the main Project Delivery P6 plan.
  • Define and maintain the Valve Risk Register and escalade high risks to project team.
  • Review planned hours, Cost-To-Completion hours vs Budgeted hours.
  • Adhere to the GE HVDC operation rhythm.
  • Adhere to the Valve Engineering SIPOC and delivery processes.
  • Define and maintain the resource plan, request additional resources to valve engineering team leads.
  • Accountability on the On-Time-Delivery and say-do ratio KPIs for the project.
  • Lead cross-functional tasks and discussions.
  • Lead Non-Conformities, with action plan in place and accountability to close them.
  • Lead Valve Engineering Gate Reviews and Engineering Design Reviews.
  • Raise Change Request when required, following a budget deviation, a change of scope or a change in design.
  • Report on a monthly basis to the Head of Valve, the project progress, including achievements, budget status, risks review and resource plan, look ahead.
  • Represent Valve during the customer meeting and with GE partners.
  • Travel abroad to attend customer meeting, witness type testing in presence of customer or consultants.
  • Actively share and learn good practices and lessons learnt as continuous improvement for future projects execution.
  • Adhere to the EHS policies.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in SmartSheet and/or MS project.

Advantageous:

  • Prior experience as Project manager or project lead.
  • Prior experience in engineering.
  • Project management certification
