Job Description

PRODUCTION ASSEMBLER I

Purpose of the Position:

The Assembler I is responsible for maintaining accuracy, quality, and efficiency while performing light assembly duties and production tasks.

The position reports to the Production Supervisor at Milwaukee Tool.

Work Schedule:

2nd Shift: Monday- Thursday 3:00pm- 1:00am

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Light assembly and packaging of product
  • General warehouse duties: stacking, moving, arranging product
  • Maintains expected productivity output levels and completes assignments as scheduled
  • Builds assemblies to quality standards and print or work order specifications
  • Follows verbal and written procedures including when modified by a Lead or Supervisor
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment including after task clean up, returning tools to designated locations and swept floor
  • Flexibility in daily tasks including rotating positions and changing work stations
  • Possibly operating minor machinery or equipment to aid in production processes
  • Adheres to IB implemented safety standards including (PPE), work practice controls, and OSHA guidelines
  • Is willing to learn new tasks, procedures and assemblies as needed
  • Listens, understands and follows instructions while learning new assignments
  • Recognizes unusual circumstances and asks questions to Team Leads when necessary
  • Requests are completed with a good attitude and by needed deadlines
  • May be assigned special projects and other duties

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possess manual dexterity and good coordination
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Possess basic reading, writing, and math skills (including adding, subtracting, calculating percentages, converting minutes to hours, and performing basic Algebra)
  • Possess necessary basic computer skills for accessing and printing documents/labels
  • Possess ability to resolve minor problems, recognize normal and unusual situations
  • Ability to work with manual and/or power equipment and tools
  • Possess proven mechanical ability or aptitude
  • Is able to follow assembly simple production diagrams
  • Demonstrates strong multitasking skills in a fast paced environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Coachable and applies instruction immediately
  • Maintains a positive attitude and remains flexible to changing work environment

Education and/or Experience:

  • HS diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Previous production, assembly or packaging related experience preferred
  • Has worked independently and as part of a team
  • Basic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • The employee may be required to frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Prolonged standing of eight or more hours a day
  • Frequent walking
  • Occasional bending, crouching, twisting, reaching
  • Employees may be required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain work cells
