Job Description

Buyer - San Luis Obispo, CA

We have an opportunity for a Buyer to join our in person San Luis Obispo, CA team. You will be responsible for purchasing items to support production and business needs. The Buyer will manage activities to procure items according to the best delivery schedule while maintaining target inventory levels. The Buyer will build and maintain vendor relationships, as well as analyze and resolve issues related to procurement, accounting, and quality. Additionally, the Buyer is responsible for supporting program management, production, inventory control, and other site functions in all procurement-related activities.

You will:

  • Manage purchasing - Place, track, and release purchase orders for inventory, tooling, and supplies.
  • Optimize inventory - Maintain stock levels, meet inventory targets, and adjust replenishment orders.
  • Coordinate materials - Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Handle supplier issues - Process non-conforming materials and support supplier transitions.
  • Support logistics - Expedite critical shipments and monitor delivery timelines.
  • Enable new product launches - Assist in establishing supply chains for new products.
  • Drive process improvement - Participate in CI and Kaizen activities.
  • Track KPIs - Monitor inventory cost, days on hand, price variance, and vendor return metrics.
  • Adapt to fast-paced work - Adjust quickly to changing priorities while maintaining accuracy.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education/experience - 2-year business education or equivalent; bachelor's preferred.
  • Purchasing expertise - 5+ years purchasing experience in OEM or manufacturing.
  • ERP skills - Proficient with manufacturing ERP systems; INFOR Visual a plus.
  • Technical proficiency - Strong MS Office and data analysis skills.
  • Manufacturing knowledge - Understanding of manufacturing operations and multi-level BOMs.
  • Key competencies - Detail-oriented with strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Compliance awareness - Familiar with contracts, regulations, and purchasing law.
  • Lean familiarity - Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles

Shift/Hours:

  • 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday, onsite
  • Potential for Overtime, as required

Compensation

The hourly pay for this role is: $30.00 -$44.00/hr. DOE.

Opportunity for a rate increase after you are proficient in certain skills and have fulfilled training. Actual pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, and experience.
