As an Electrical System Integration Engineer in the LPSD Electrical Systems Integration team you will design electrical/mechanical systems for diesel, natural gas, and alternative fuel engines. You will collaborate with global engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and production facilities to take projects from initial conception through commissioning.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Design of electrical and mechanical systems for internal combustion engines and electrification products which include sensors, actuators, circuit protection, CAN networks, ethernet, ECUs, and telemetry

• Product definition of electrical interfaces and protocols for integration with customer control systems

• Collaboration with embedded software developers

• Validation of software against requirements

• Calibration of ECUs in real-time on running engines and hardware-in-the-loop simulators

• Support of foreign and domestic production facilities

• Occasional travel to customers for commissioning and troubleshooting

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited Electrical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering or Engineering Technology curriculum, or Computer Science curriculum

• 4 years of experience in electrical design or software

• Experience in any of the following industries: Electric Power, Rail, Marine, Mining, Petroleum

• Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting skills utilizing multimeters, current clamps, oscilloscopes

• Experience with automotive or industrial communications protocols (CAN, ethernet, Modbus, etc)

Top Candidates will also have:

• Experience with Vector CANape and CANalyzer

• Harness design experience

• Experience calibrating or interpreting engine performance maps

• Experience interacting directly with customers and end users

• This position is located in Lafayette, IN

• Domestic Relocation is available for this position

• This position may require less than 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
