POSITION OVERVIEW

STi is seeking Engineering Technician II candidates to provide hands-on submarine PSSE maintenance, certification, operational support, and non-ordnance handling support for MARMC Code 271.

This role supports senior technicians and Government stakeholders in maintaining, inspecting, testing, repairing, documenting, moving, loading/off-loading, and supporting PSSE and related non-ordnance handling equipment. The ideal candidate has recent hands-on Navy, shipyard, submarine, mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, weapons support equipment, ordnance/non-ordnance handling support, or industrial maintenance experience.

This position is a strong fit for technicians who are comfortable working in waterfront, shipboard, shipyard, and industrial environments and who have hands-on experience supporting mechanical equipment maintenance and operational readiness.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

β€’ Support preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, testing, repair, and certification activities for submarine PSSE and related support equipment.

β€’ Assist with maintenance and operational procedures performed in accordance with technical manuals, PMS schedules, drawings, MRCs, TLMDs, and approved work instructions.

β€’ Support work on Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, weapon cradles, ballast cans, VLS/VPT platforms, munitions trailers, handling slings, beams, containers, deployment stands, torpedo/Tomahawk ancillary gear, and related PSSE/non-ordnance handling equipment.

β€’ Assist with maintenance, movement, handling, canning, un-canning, shipping, receiving, stenciling, storage, and transportation support for PSSE equipment and inert components.

β€’ Support waterfront and pier-side handling evolutions involving submarines, transfer vehicles, lifting equipment, forklifts, bomb carts, and associated handling/support equipment.

β€’ Help verify that tools, handling equipment, lifting equipment, vehicles, and support equipment are ready and properly maintained for scheduled evolutions.

β€’ Document maintenance actions, repair status, equipment condition, inspection results, and other technical information as assigned.

β€’ Assist with HAZMAT locker support, shop organization, material/tool readiness, and safe work practices.

β€’ Support database updates, inventory status, location tracking, maintenance status, and condition-code information as assigned.

β€’ Work as part of qualified non-ordnance handling teams supporting submarines berthed at Naval Station Norfolk and other approved locations.

β€’ Follow all customer, OSHA, shipboard, industrial, PPE, and local activity safety requirements.

β€’ Perform work in shipboard, waterfront, industrial, maintenance, and confined-space environments as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

U.S. Citizenship required. Active Secret clearance required.

β€’ Minimum 2 years of full-time hands-on technical experience within the last 10 years in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of PSSE incorporated in Submarine PSSE Non-Ordnance Handling systems.

β€’ Hands-on experience supporting mechanical, electrical, electronic, shipboard, industrial, maintenance, handling, test, repair, or support equipment activities.

β€’ Ability to follow technical manuals, maintenance procedures, safety requirements, work instructions, and direction from senior technicians or Government stakeholders.

β€’ Ability to document work accurately and support equipment status, maintenance, inspection, or condition reporting requirements.

β€’ Ability to work aboard U.S. Navy ships and in shipyard/waterfront environments.

β€’ Ability to walk, climb ladders/stairs, carry tools/materials, navigate confined or crowded shipboard spaces, and work in varying environmental conditions.

β€’ Ability to obtain and maintain required local activity training, OSHA/safety training, CPR certification, PPE compliance, and customer-required onboarding credentials.

β€’ Ability to travel between work sites as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

β€’ Prior Navy, submarine, shipyard, MARMC, RMC, NAVSEA, fleet maintenance, waterfront, or industrial maintenance support experience.

β€’ Experience with submarine PSSE, non-ordnance handling equipment, VLS/VPT platforms, ballast cans, weapon cradles, AUR/AURB/AURVS/AURES, TMDs, TOTEMS, munitions trailers, slings, beams, containers, or related handling/support equipment.

β€’ Experience supporting preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, testing, inspection, equipment repair, certification support, or operational procedures.

β€’ Experience working from technical manuals, drawings, PMS, MRCs, load test documentation, or similar controlled maintenance documentation.

β€’ Experience supporting shipping/receiving, stenciling, canning/uncanning, loading/off-loading, material handling, forklift/bomb cart coordination, or waterfront support operations.

β€’ Familiarity with shipboard safety, PPE, HAZMAT, confined spaces, industrial maintenance environments, or OSHA requirements.

β€’ Strong reliability, attention to detail, teamwork, and willingness to support mission-critical Navy maintenance operations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

β€’ Primary place of performance is MARMC / Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk, VA.

β€’ Work may include Norfolk, VA; Groton, CT; Navy shipyards; submarines; piers; waterfront areas; U.S. Naval facilities; contractor facilities; and approved travel locations.

β€’ Work requires use of required PPE and compliance with shipboard, industrial, OSHA, and local safety requirements.

β€’ Some work may require confined-space, aloft, waterfront, shipboard, or industrial maintenance environment access.
