The Opportunity:
Seeking a Naval Architect in our Washington, DC office to perform design and analysis of new and existing ships and ship systems.

Responsibilities


  • Design, develop and analyze new ships and ship system concepts.
  • Develop complex designs for current and conceptualized ships, systems and equipment. Use design software to prepare plans, drawings and analytical models. Evaluate designs for feasibility.
  • Analyze critical elements or performance of the design using analytic tools, model scale and full scale testing, or prototyping as appropriate. Prepare reports of results and conclusions. Recommend and implement changes to designs based on conclusions.
  • Identify and apply regulatory and customer standards, commercial and military standards, as well as classification society rules, to ship designs and modifications.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering
  • Experience working with ship system performance assessment and prediction methods, especially utilizing computer assisted design (CAD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) software in the design process.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Must be a US citizen and have ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal (English) communication skills.

Desired:

  • Ability to create drawings in AutoCAD and 3D models in Rhinoceros 3D
  • Experience using GHS, SHCP, or HECSTAB software
  • Two or more years of experience in US Navy or USCG ship design.

This position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately. However, this position is representative of positions within CACI that are consistently available. Individuals who apply may also be considered for other positions at CACI.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
