Waste Connections is seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanic to join our growing maintenance team. We're looking for individuals who prioritize safety, take pride in their work, and understand how critical their role is to supporting our drivers and the service we provide to the community.
Role: Mechanic
Location
Waste Connections-BrooklynSchedule: Monday through Friday, with alternating Saturdays as needed
Hours: 7A-3:30P (OT based on workload)
Rate: $28–$32/hr, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules
Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software
Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance
Collaborate with teammates on complex repairs
Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers and team members
Keep workspaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks
Strong skills in electrical and hydraulic systems
Well-rounded experience in mechanical and welding repairs
Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance
Basic tool set required
Valid CDL Class B or A license, not required but a big plus
Ability to work independently within a shop environment
Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
