Job Summary
CHRISTUS Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a dual-role position that supports both the Occupational Health/Workman's Comp and Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) at our Alamogordo, NM location. This advanced practice provider will support bone health and healing post-fracture, support primary/secondary fracture prevention, and deliver occupational health services, including injury care, DOT physicals, and work comp injuries.Key Responsibilities
Occupational Health / Urgent Care: Perform DOT physicals and pre-employment evaluationsTreat work-related injuries, including orthopedic-related cases
Provide urgent care services including wound care, laceration repair, suturing, splinting, and IV hydration
Read initial X-rays and manage minor procedures
Accept walk-in patients for occupational health and minor work comp needs
Fracture Liaison Service (FLS): Manage post-operative hip fracture patients and monitor bone healing
Order and interpret labs and DEXA scans
Prescribe medications to promote bone density and prevent future fractures
Provide ongoing primary and secondary fracture prevention care
Coordinate care with orthopedic surgery and primary care as needed
Requirements
Licensed Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Mexico, or willing to obtain licenseMinimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Preventative Care, Urgent Care, Primary Care, or Emergency Medicine
Strong procedural skills (suturing, splinting, wound care)
Experience in bone health or occupational medicine preferred
Certification in Osteoporosis Management and Occupational Health required (can be completed after hire)
Independent practice experience preferred
