Job Summary


Responsible for applying black paint or ink to engraved or etched figures, lines, graduations, and markings on precision measuring tools and instruments. This process enhances visibility and readability of measurement scales and markings. The role requires excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to work with small parts and fine engravings. The position plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and usability of Starrett's world-renowned measuring tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply black paint, ink, or fill material to engraved or etched figures, graduations, or logos on measuring tools using brushes, rollers, or specialized equipment.
  • Remove excess paint or fill material from non-engraved surfaces without affecting the underlying finish.
  • Visually inspect completed work to ensure clarity, alignment, and quality of markings.
  • Handle and position small precision tools and parts safely and accurately.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow work instructions, safety protocols, and company quality standards.
  • Record quantities, work orders, and production data as required. β€’ Communicate any defects, inconsistencies, or equipment issues to supervisors.
  • Assist with other finishing operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
