The Painter/ Materials Support Technician role assists with basic painting operations, including surface preparation, paint mixing, painting products and performing quality checks. The position also supports production efficiency by helping move materials and stage components in the machine shop to reduce changeover times. This role follows all safety and quality standards while maintaining an organized work area. The ideal candidate is a reliable team member who supports daily workflow and contributes to a smooth, efficient production process.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Assists with mixing basic paint formulas following established guidelines.
• Helps prepare materials and equipment needed for painting tasks.
• Operates simple controls to adjust paint flow or equipment settings under supervision.
• Inspects painted surfaces for coverage and quality and reports issues to senior staff.
• Uses measuring tools to check paint thickness or viscosity as directed.
• Reviews daily job assignments and prepares necessary supplies.
• Follows all safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions.
• Reads job instructions to understand surface preparation and paint requirements.
• Supports senior painters in maintaining workflow and meeting production goals.
• Suggests improvements to painting processes when appropriate.
• Assists co-workers with routine tasks and problem solving.
• Maintains basic time, material, and production records as instructed.
• Helps with estimating or inspecting materials needed for upcoming jobs.
• Communicates with team members to stay aligned on daily tasks.
• Assists with moving components, fixtures, and materials within the machine shop to support production flow.
• Helps stage required materials near machines to reduce changeover time and minimize downtime.
• Supports the setup team by delivering tools, parts, or supplies needed for the next job.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Certificate from college or technical school; or 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be highly organized and attentive to detail.
• Basic to intermediate mathematical skills needed
• Strong verbal communication skills necessary to collaborate and respond to others and questions appropriately. Able to read and interpret written information.
• Must observe safety and security procedures. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, etc.
• Must be a team player, able to collaborate with other departments.
