Licensed Journeyman/Master Electrician role installing, maintaining, and repairing experimental electrical equipment in an independent R&D environment supporting national security work. Based onsite in San Antonio, you’ll interface with engineers/managers on layouts, wiring, 3‑phase motors, and standby generator installations. Join an independent R&D company as a skilled electrician to install, maintain, and repair experimental electrical equipment to aide in solving national security problems. By joining our team, you will receive an additional $500.00 in your first paycheck (minus applicable taxes).
Objectives of this Role:
- Work on a variety of projects and/or current challenges in designing, installing and maintaining electrical equipment.
- Interface with engineers and managers to plan new layouts and installation of electrical components.
- Work with 3-phase motors, stand by generator power install and other experimental equipment.
- Work independently and in team environments with some travel to offsite locations.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical fixtures and equipment such as wiring, lighting, panels, junction boxes, circuit breakers, computer plugs, motors and other experimental equipment.
- Feed, pull, terminate wire and cable to distribution boxes, transformers, transducers, switch gear, receptacles, switches, etc.
- Read blueprints and schematics for wire routing, troubleshooting, and power requirements for various types of equipment.
- Verify all work complies with NEC codes, LOTO and electrical safety requirements.
- Help maintain shop inventory and help with restocking and placing orders to electrical distribution centers.
Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician.
- 5+ years: Residential or commercial Apprentice, Wireman or Journeyman Electrician.
- 1+ years: Knowledge of conduit bending procedures, wire pulling practices and must be comfortable working from ladders and personnel lifts.
- 1+ years: Experience trouble shooting electrical circuits, lights, relays and contactors. Being familiar and comfortable using a voltmeter, motor rotation tester, and megger.
- 2+ years: Strong understanding of NEC, blueprint reading, commercial wiring.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
