Teach South Sussex is looking to recruit compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in schools across the Peacehaven area. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping every child thrive. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and school staff to provide personalised support, enabling pupils to develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a positive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEND. Assist in the delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies. Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs. Adapt learning activities in collaboration with teachers to meet individual learning requirements. Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in the classroom. Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate. Requirements

Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEND in a school or educational setting. Knowledge of a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and speech and language difficulties. A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and wellbeing. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEND support are desirable but not essential. An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
