The Sr Quality Manager will work with management, functional partners, and system users in the identification, design, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of quality strategies to support then needs of multiple sites. The end goal is to build relationships and create a unified quality culture within the Vollrath manufacturing area.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership:

  • Maintaining and improving product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits.
  • Investigating customer complaints.
  • Collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, manufacturing and training methods.

Quality assurance operational objectives:

  • Contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Preparing and completing action plans.
  • Implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Identifying and resolving problems.
  • Completing audits.
  • Determining system improvements.
  • Implementing change.

Quality assurance human resource objectives:

  • Assisting with recruitment, orientation, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Communicating job expectations.
  • Planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions
  • Planning and reviewing compensation actions.
  • Enforcing policies and procedures.

Development of quality assurance plans:

  • Conducting risk analyses.
  • Identifying critical control points and preventive measures.
  • Establishing critical limits.
  • Monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures.
  • Monitoring inventories.

Quality assurance financial objectives:

  • Estimating requirements.
  • Preparing annual budget.
  • Scheduling expenditures.
  • Analyzing scrap.
  • Rework and warranty variances.
  • Driving corrective actions.

Leads communication with external customers regarding proactive or reactive quality issues and corrective actions.

Supports New Product Development (NPD) by leading Process Validation to include the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements inside Vollrath's gated development process.

Manages the preparation of quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including external customer complaints, failed internal processes, scrap, rework, warranty, recalls, corrective actions, etc.

Identify opportunities and coordinate efforts to reduce Warranty Costs to include OS&D (shipment related claims).

All other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands - Requires frequent sitting, walking or standing; occasional bending or lifting up to 35lbs.

Work Environment - Exposure to noise, dirt, dust, oil, and sharp objects that can occur in office settings or non-climate controlled manufacturing settings. Safety glasses, hearing protection, full length pants, and steel toed shoes as required while on the plant floor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct reports may include:

  • Quality Engineer
  • Quality Technician
  • Assembly & Receiving Quality Improvement Coordinator
  • Quality Assurance Inspector
  • Quality Analysis
  • Co-op and Intern

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 15+ years of experience in related field with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, quality, manufacturing, operations management, or materials management preferred.
  • ISO 9001: 2015 experience and knowledge required.
  • Experience with software such as:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Excel (pivot tables)
    • Data analysis software such as Minitab
    • Business Management System (SAP, JD Edwards)
  • Professional quality certifications and master's degree preferred.
  • CQM/OE certification preferred.
