Operates and/or prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Applies technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to protocols and patient needs. Performs MRI imaging procedures. Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study. Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures. Reviews patient safety questionnaires prior to MRI scan. Ensures MRI images are appropriately labeled as per department SOP. Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures timely transmission to PACS. Completes studies in IDX (Radiology Information System) timely. Maintains cleanliness of radiology room and equipment at start and end of shift. Scans patient-related documents. Maintains supplies and accessories necessary for duties. Accurately records patient tracking information into IDX. Schedules exams into IDX as required. Reports needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor. Assists physician directly as required. Calls for in-patients as required. Performs related clerical duties in absence of support personnel. Maintains safety standards to prevent ferromagnetic material introduction into scan room. Adheres to infection control policies and protocols. Attends in-services and professional development meetings. Maintains licensure specific to job per Public Health Code. Other relevant duties as assigned. Job Requirements
Strong background in cross sectional anatomy, physical sciences and M.R. physics. Excellent technical skills, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. Two (2) years' experience in MRI preferred. Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology. NY State License in Diagnostic Radiology required. A.R.R.T. MRI registry required.
