Job Summary

Operate and maintain automated perfect binding line, case making and casing- in equipment to production standards and quality

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain automated perfect binder, flatbed cutter, case making and casing- in equipment to production standards and quality
  • Analyze and interpret job jackets and print-on-demand sheets to thoroughly understand the needs of the customer; communicating those instructions to co-workers
  • Cross train to assist on the softcover perfect binding equipment
  • Constantly monitor quality of finished product to ensure customer’s satisfaction
  • Technical maintenance of the machinery and trouble shooting
  • Maintain accurate record keeping on TSP timesheets and logbooks; understand and utilize corresponding digital software systems
  • Accurately communicate to the next shift and other co-workers the status of jobs being processed
  • Operate hand jack to move work throughout department and deliver all completed work to the shipping area
  • Assist with housekeeping in the bindery area
  • Perform job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees. Follow all required safety procedures such as: PPE's, Ergonomics, etc.
  • Willingness to cross train in multiple job functions
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of computer-controlled machinery in a production environment
  • Good organizational, mechanical and time management skills
  • Excellent math skills are required (ability to read a ruler and/or caliper, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using numbers, common fractions and decimals), communications and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented within a team environment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Self-motivated, with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
  • High School Diploma or GED

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior experience on bindery and/or finishing equipment preferred

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a factory environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and the physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals

  • Safety toe shoes
  • Hearing protection
  • Ability to lift 40lbs. on a regular basis
  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • Overtime as needed
