Your Responsibilities

As a Machining ME, Gear for John Deere Waterloo Works (DTO), located in Waterloo, IA, you will perform the duties and responsibilities of a Manufacturing Engineer associated with machining gear and shaft components:

  • Provide 3rd shift support and troubleshooting to resolve production process, machine, and quality issues for all green and finish operations in H-building.
  • Recommend and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas.
  • Assist in team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations.
  • Investigates, gathers, and analyzes data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks.
  • Assist planning and implementation of projects related to new machines, processes, and parts.

What Skills You Need

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to interact with all levels in the organization and supplier personnel
  • Demonstrated proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to proficiently use algebra, geometry, and trigonometry Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple, concurrent projects
  • Ability and willingness to work variable hours including overtime and weekends based on business needs

What Makes You Standout

  • Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of turning, milling, drilling, and hard finishing of ferrous materials
  • Experience applying gear and shaft manufacturing tools and technology
  • Experience in shop floor process adjustments necessary to correct geometry and quality problems
  • Experience with interpreting part prints and GD&T designations
  • Experience with the use of AutoCAD, Creo, or related software
  • Experience with leading and supporting cross functional teams for projects of moderate scope
  • Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis tools
  • Experience in using SAP

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technology field (agricultural, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical) or equivalent related work experience.
