Ampco Pumps is a fast-growing manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps and mixing & blending equipment used in the food and dairy industries, desalination, and various chemical and industrial applications.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience creating precise technical drawings, 3D models, and engineering documentation for mechanical components. This role will support ongoing projects by producing accurate CAD designs, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and ensuring designs meet specifications and standards.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to translate concepts into accurate designs.
  • Review and update drawings to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Assist in prototyping, product development, and design validation.
  • Maintain organized documentation of CAD files and revisions.
  • Participate in design reviews and offer suggestions for design improvements.
  • Follow all housekeeping procedures and comply with all quality and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and design standards.
  • Experience in mechanical design preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with the principles of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
  • Prior experience with food processing equipment preferred.

Education/Experience

  • Associate's in Drafting or Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
